Our LISTSERVER allows SPAUG MEMBERS to send an e-mail message to ALL other SPAUG MEMBERS on the list by sending e-mail to just ONE address: spaug-list@svpal.org
WHAT IS APPROPRIATE? If a member finds some information that may be of BROAD GENERAL INTEREST to other SPAUG MEMBERS, then send it to the spaug-list. Do you have a problem with your computer or software that you would like advice or input from the members? Send e-mail to the list. If you have a good answer for a question, post it to the list so everyone can benefit.
WHAT IS NOT APPROPRIATE: Junk mail, items of LIMITED INTEREST to the general membership, personal crusades, etc. Common sense should prevail. Recommending URLs can be done through the spaug-list if it's timely information or very important; otherwise, with the pertinant information for posting in ShareWhere.
If the information that you have is ONLY of interest to one or two members, then do not REPLY ALL; send the information to them at their personal e-mail addresses, NOT to the LISTSERVER.
To ADD, CORRECT, or DELETE your name from the SPAUG e-mail list, send the information to: SPAUG Membership Manager
Be careful when replying to a spaug-list message; you may hit REPLY ALL to a broadcast message not realizing that the REPLY ALL is to ALL SPAUG members when you intended to respond to the sender personally. It looks a little strange that everyone gets the personalized message.
The key is what shows up in the TO: and CC: fields. If you see something like spaug-list@svpal.org or spaug-list at SV-PAL, it's going to everyone. This is what you want for a reply meant for everyone; but if you're addressing the sender only, make sure only the recipients address is showing. And if you do REPLY ALL, please remove the individual's email address; they'll get one from the spaug-list and don't need another copy.
